Naples Bay Resort is situated where the Gordon River flows into Naples Bay and is organized around a marina. The owner has a vision for a restaurant to serve the resort’s guests throughout the day and provide wonderful views of the water. GMA Architects and the interior design consultant were charged with the task of translating a vision into Olio. Guests and those visiting by boat enter Olio from the promenade along the marina. The entrance where the guests are greeted by the host has a vaulted ceiling and provides views into the different areas of the restaurant. Featuring folding glass walls on the marina side of the restaurant, the bar and dinning area can be opened so guests can take advantage of the weather and the waterfront activity. Olio is anchored by the bar on one side and an open kitchen at the center with seating along a counter where guests can watch the performance of the chefs. Three dining areas flow between these two points which allow guests to be a part of the activity while still providing an intimate dining experience. Vaulted and stepped ceilings define these different dining spaces and add a touch of drama. The selection of materials and lighting were inspired by the proximity of the Gulf and maritime activity while maintaining a level of sophistication.
