GMA Architects & Planners is proud to announce the completion of the expansion and renovation of Specialized Veterinary Services in Fort Myers. SVS is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year offering the most advanced specialty, emergency and critical care veterinary services in the area. Due to rapid growth, the practice needed to expand their current facility located in a converted Bob Evans restaurant. The project included the renovation of the existing 5,400 square foot space and a 13,400 square foot, two-story addition.
The renovation tripled the size and extensively upgraded the finishes of the reception and waiting area. The first floor of the addition added three new, state-of-the-art, surgery rooms with pre-op; dedicated CT Scan, MRI, and x-ray suites; and six additional examination rooms. The second floor of the expansion adds critically needed office and storage space, a large training room, and male and female employee locker rooms. The entire space was integrated to flow seamlessly from old to new.
The trademark brick of the restaurant facade was masked with stucco to match the new addition finish. This contemporary treatment provides a coordinated look that ties the two together as if they were constructed simultaneously. New aluminum sunshading devices and an exposed monumental stairway complete the transformation. Conspicuous signage draws attention to the expanded facility from the busy Daniels Parkway corridor.
The project was completed in phases allowing the practice to maintain operation throughout the entire constriction process.
